It wasn’t until a few years ago while interviewing for roles outside the company I recognized that I had left so much money on the table over the years because, I gleefully said YES to the LETTER and went on my merry way.Įven after I became a leader of teams, while I advocated furiously for various individuals of my team to be compensated for what they were worth, I never applied that advocacy for myself because I just assumed good intent all along. Were all numbers my parents had never seen before, money I had never seen before. I left hundreds of thousands of dollars on the table.įor most of my corporate career, and especially at the start of my career, I just blindly accepted whatever offer I got because I didn’t know any better.
